Where direct shares are used in a portfolio, rather than managed funds, we individually tailor the recommendations to meet our client’s needs, be it income or growth.

We use multiple sources to research, examine and verify companies before making any specific recommendations. At present we use Aegis Equities Research, a leading independent research house as one of our primary sources of information.

In addition we have relationships with many of Australia’s leading stockbroking firms and investment banks that provide research and access to initial public offerings (IPO). The criteria currently being overlaid include:

• respected management;
• strong business model;
• low gearing and strong cash flows;
• attractive dividend yields (100% franked, if possible); and
• reasonable price to earnings ratios relative to growth prospects
• high barriers to entry;
• proven track record;
• consideration of tax consequences;

We can also remove most of the administrative and paperwork burden that goes with managing a direct share portfolio through the use of various portfolio administration services.
